MIRPUR: Bangladesh’s experienced pacer Taskin Ahmed on Thursday, broke Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir’s four-year-old record of the best bowling figures in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The right-arm pacer achieved the milestone in the fifth match of the ongoing edition between Durbar Rajshahi and Dhaka Capital.
The 29-year-old ran through the Capital’s batting unit by taking seven wickets in his quota of four overs for just 19 runs.
He dismissed both Capital’s openers Litton Das and Tanzid Hassan in his first two overs and was taken away by his captain Anamul Haque.
Taskin returned for his second spell in the 17th over, which saw him taking two more wickets, including Capital’s top-scorer Shahadat Hossain.
The right-arm pacer was even more ruthless in the final over as he struck thrice to return with astounding match figures of 7/19.
As a result, Taskin Ahmed replaced Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir to register the best bowling figures in the history of the league.
Notably, Amir had registered brilliant bowling figures of 6/17 for Khulna Tigers against Sylhet Royals in the 2020 edition of the BPL.
Furthermore, Taskin’s figures of 7/19 is also the third-best in the history of T20 cricket.
Malaysia’s Syazrul Idrus holds the record of registering the best bowling figures in T20s. The right-arm pacer had taken seven wickets for just eight runs in a T20 International against China last year.
Netherlands’ Colin Ackermann stands second in the list with his 7-18 for Leicestershire against Birmingham Bears in England’s Vitality Blast.
